DDD or “Don’t Do Drama” and how not to…
I recently was given insight about a challenging event in my life. I’m told (filtered a bit through my human brain):
Remember, your interpretation of an event determines the internal effect…
You can choose to make something that upsets you, brings you down, frustrates you, takes away from your energy. You can give the event energy or you don’t have to. And, unfortunately, this event is not something that will be solved by giving it more energy.
Such a simple lesson!
But it can be hard to step back from situations we know are draining on us.
Some events will serve as an energy drain, not a productive use of your energy. We can see you really want to change this outcome or circumstance but we want you redirecting your energy towards the golden light (your path).
This is another opportunity to notice how a minor thing is not worth it. This is another opportunity to notice what kind of things are not worth your time or attention.
Here’s another way to look at it:
Intense events in our lives can feel like a well-produced soap opera with soaring ratings, and we find ourselves cast in the lead role!
Complete with emotional highs and lows, winners and losers, and a dedicated supporting cast.
But unless we’re getting paid for our acting skills (I surely wasn’t), we can be aware of our choice in the situation:
Pull your energy back from the soap opera. See it now like getting really invested in a TV show, getting mad when your favorite character dies.
It could ruin your day, but that energy isn’t actually going anywhere — it’s being lost or leaking when it could be brought back in to serve you or those other situations where it’s truly needed.
Whether originating in current or past lives, the important thing is first to be armed with knowledge and awareness — which is the first step of change.
A Breathwork Visualization:
See two versions of yourself standing in two separate streams of water.
• One is swept into the drama or stories of the current/past.
• The other is experiencing your situation in a relaxed manner, with balanced energy — just enjoying the coolness of the water at their ankles.
• Stand in your current body, in your version of the river, and just note what’s happening.
• Then cast your gaze and make contact with this other version of yourself. They smile back at you.
Ask yourself: What do I notice about them?
•Now breathe yourself into the second perspective, in the second stream.
Look back at the first.
What does it feel like to embody this shift?• Go back and forth if you like. Have a conversation.
• What does the second version want you to know?
Perhaps the first version needs to be listened to, validated, and understood.• Use the moving current to wash away anything that needs to be released.
• When you’re ready, breathe the second version of yourself inside your body now — and feel the qualities you now possess.
In fact, you possessed them all along.
These ideas are just doorways.
And I’ve got a lot more on this topic.
I look forward to your comments.
